We are not allowed to give learners any medicine, so please do not send any to school. Please do not send learners to school if they are very ill and have contagious diseases like stomach bugs, chicken pocks, measles and Covid.
Please don’t send any toys with learners to school. Toys cause problems as they get broken or stolen.
Please label all your child’s stationery and clothes once received. Learners have to learn responsibility and take care of their own belongings. The school’s Lost and Found is open in the mornings from 07:00-07:30. Parents have to accompany their children if they have lost something. Teachers will not be able to search for lost items as we cannot leave learners unattended to search for lost belongings.
Learners must come to school dressed neatly in the correct school uniform. Drimacs are only allowed on rainy days. PE days will be communicated as soon as possible, when the learners have PE and must wear the PE uniform. That is; navy sport shorts and yellow PE golf shirt with the school logo. Black or white tekkies, (no name brands) and white socks. No other PE clothes will be accepted. PE clothes are only allowed on PE days. Hair should be cut neatly (boys-no Mohawks or lines) and girls’ hair should be tied neatly. If it is a rainy day, please do not send learners to school in other jackets, only school jackets/jerseys.
Learners have homework to complete every day except on Friday’s. Please ensure that you support your child with their homework each day and check it before they pack it away. Establish a good routine at home in which learners do their homework every day, help with chores, play outside and get to bed early. A tired learner cannot concentrate in class. Learners should be in bed by 8 o’clock. Please read to your child often and encourage them to try to read also.
Values and manners are a very important part of growing up. We encourage the learners to always be polite, respect other people, to say please and thank you, to never hurt a friend and to listen to the teachers. Greeting one another is also important. Please teach your children to respect the environment around them i.e. not to throw papers on the ground but in the dustbin, not to draw on furniture etc. Please support us by also reinforcing these values and manners at home.
Please establish a good routine at home. Make sure learners go to bed early and at the same time every night. Let your child do chores at home. Chores will teach your child responsibility. Also reduce the amount of TV that your child watches and encourage outdoor play. Also be vigilant with the programs that they are watching as certain programs are not appropriate for their age and they display/discuss what they see when they come to school.
Please make sure learners are fetched on time. Arrange with the class teacher if someone else will be picking up your child and if your child should attend aftercare. If your child is fetched by a transport company, please ensure that they know the person who is fetching them.
